Fun Summer Camp Ideas





Summer camps are a great way for children to explore new experiences, develop a sense of self, and learn life skills. Two teams of coders worked together for four days to evaluate the social-motivational climate at the summer camp. They observed daily activities over the course of two weeks. In order to track the amount of MVPA accumulation over time, 20 children were given accelerometers.

The results showed that the median MVPA minute accumulated by girls and boys was identical, with a median time of 96 hours and 80 minutes per days, respectively. The motivation for girls' PA time was peer support and social support. However, the motivation for male PA time was ego orientation.


Also, most of the play was free and autonomous. Moreover, the majority of the activities were highly engaging, with only 24% of scans showing minimal organized activity.

Camp 2 had a smaller gym than the other camps. It was therefore more difficult for all campers to participate in one activity. It offered more organized activities, and was able to efficiently allocate space.




Additionally, most youth stayed at the camp throughout the day. Furthermore, the camp's environment was conducive to outdoor recreational activities. All the camps were situated within 10 miles of an Urban Center or a Suburban Area.

Finally, the group had low levels of gender diversity. Specifically, the groups were composed of three groups: boys, girls, and mixed. However, the ego orientations of females were significantly higher than those in the other two categories. Therefore, the girls had a higher level of task orientation which indicates that they were more likely be involved in PA.

These findings suggest that summer camps can boost children's physical activity levels and promote healthy living. These camps can help children learn the value of teamwork, responsibility, and leadership. These factors will enable them to make better decisions for their future.
