FAQ

What are 5 outdoor activities best for kids?

Whether you live in the country or the suburbs, there are tons of fun things to do outside. Here are five of our favorite activities we think every kid should have the chance to experience at least once.

  1. Go to the Zoo. Zoos are great places for family time. Going to a Zoo allows you to be close to the animals. It's also an excellent opportunity to teach your children about conservation. Some zoos have special programs that educate visitors on issues facing endangered species around the world. For more information, you can visit the website or call ahead to learn about classes and events being offered at your local Zoological Society.
  2. Visit a Nature Center. These are great places to learn more about the natural environment. These centers often have interactive displays and exhibits. There are also lots of hands-on activities. The cool things your kids can do will amaze you! A visit to a nature center can be a great excuse for a hike in nearby forests or parks.
  3. Take your children on a bike ride - When is the last time that you took them on a bike trip? You'll find that they will enjoy riding bikes just as much as you did growing old. And biking isn't just good exercise -- it's also a great way to get to know your neighborhood and discover hidden gems.
  4. Play a sports game - Sport games aren’t just for kids. Sports games have continued to be popular for all ages. The key is finding something that works well for your group. Family time can be spent together in many ways, including basketball, soccer and hockey.
  5. Enjoy a Movie Under The Stars - This may be the best way to take in the great outdoors if you have a large yard. A blanket or lawn chair, a picnic bag with food and drink, and perhaps a grill are all you need. You'll be amazed at how relaxing it is to lounge under the stars.

How long should I remain outside with my children for?

Weather conditions determine how much time you spend outdoors. You should not expose your children to extreme heat, humidity, or cold.

Children should not be left unattended in direct sunlight, especially during hot weather. They should limit outdoor time to no more than 30 minutes per day.

Avoid letting your children go outside during rainy weather for longer than 15 minutes. You can leave your children unattended for longer periods of time if you have to, but make sure to bring water and snacks.

What are some other great activities that you could do with your family?

There are many ways to spend time with your family. But there are two types of activities you should avoid. One is to spend time together and talk about yourself. This type of activity typically ends when the conversation stops.

The second activity involves arguing about how better you are than everyone else. You can make your spouse and children feel inferior.

Some may respond, "Well these arguments must be used." That's right. We do. Sometimes, however, there are more productive ways to use our time. You can play games, read books with your kids, take walks, help with homework, cook dinner with them, etcetera. These activities are fun because they involve you and your family working together.

Instead of arguing over who is more intelligent, why don't we agree to play a game together? You could also choose a book everyone likes and share it with the group.

Perhaps you could set aside time to watch a movie? Enjoy dinner together, and then discuss how your day went. What about playing board games?

These activities can be fun and let you have fun together without fighting. These activities also give you the opportunity to learn from one another.

Why is family gardening important

Family gardeners are passionate about growing food for themselves and their families.

Children can learn responsibility and develop patience, cooperation, time management, problem-solving skills, and tolerance. In addition to helping parents grow their self-esteem, gardening also teaches them how they can care for the environment.

The benefits of gardens for adults include a greater sense of connection to the natural world and a lower risk of developing stress. Spending time outside releases chemicals known as "happyhormones", which can make us happier, healthier, and more content.

Family gardening is good for your mental and physical well-being. Gardens give back to society by contributing to local economies, conserving natural resources, reducing stormwater runoff, filtering pollutants, and creating wildlife habitats.

Is it safe to allow my child to climb trees.

Trees are strong structures. If you don't evaluate your child's abilities, climbing trees can pose risks.

You have to use both hands and legs to get higher when climbing a tree. To maintain balance, your child must be able use both his arms and legs.

You child must also be able move between branches quickly and easily. This requires strength and agility.

Do not force your child to climb a tree if she isn’t ready.

Sitting on the lower branches or using a ladder can allow you to still climb a tree together. You can also sit together on a branch to read books.
